Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is considered to be one of the most influential people in pop culture. Originally starting off as a rapper and producer, Ye transitioned into fashion in the early 2000s with a brief interaction with Nike, in which he then transitioned into working with Adidas Originals on a one-of-a-kind sneaker line in 2015. His unique mindset toward fashion and his notable legacy helped establish Yeezy as something to be taken seriously, and since its establishment, the brand has gained massive traction and success. Considered a vital part of sneaker culture in its entirety, Yeezy continues to emphasize its contributions to fashion.
First teased by Ye during the summer of 2018, the Yeezy 450 is an outlandish silhouette that has garnered mass attention partly due to its alien face-hugger-like sole unit. The footwear design is one of Ye’s wildest designs and is also one of the rare silhouettes that does not feature BOOST cushioning, and instead opts for a molded outsole that connects to its knit upper. The Yeezy 450 was released officially in a ‘Cloud White’ hue, with its additional colorways including Dark Slate, Resin, and now, Utility Black.
The Yeezy 450 repertoire continues with a ‘Utility Black’ colorway. This Germany-made silhouette takes on a unique aesthetic with its one-piece premium knit and sock-like construction, resulting in an adaptable fit with exceptional comfort. The soft PU-injected midsole compound provides additional high-performance rebound and cushioning, contributing to its innovative construction. A series of recycled materials are featured in the upper, while the rubber outsole protects the rest of the durable silhouette.
