Toronto’s 57th Cavalcade of CavalcadeLights Illuminates Nathan Phillips Square

Running until January 7th, 2024, the 57th annual Cavalcade of Lights in Toronto, presented by Desjardins Financial Group, transforms Nathan Phillips Square into a mesmerizing winter spectacle. The event, commencing with an opening night celebration on Saturday, November 25, from 3 to 11 p.m., features a diverse array of performances and activities.

 

 

The Main Stage hosts cultural performances, including music by the Toronto Chinese Orchestra, Polish folk tunes by Polky, and R&B, soul, and jazz by Zaki Ibrahim. The Circle Stage offers acts like hoop dancing, Celtic tunes, and fire performances, while the Skating Rink features public skating sessions and showcases by Team Trinity with Olympian Madeline Schizas.

 

 

Highlighting light festivals worldwide, this year’s installations include an interactive sound installation called ECHO, Lunar Lanterns sharing Indigenous stories, and Peace & Love Lanterns at City Hall Main Entrance.

Noteworthy performances include Trash Panda Brass, Caribbean Steel drumming by Kenn Lewis, and Portuguese songs by Banda do Senhor Cristo Santo of Toronto. Despite the absence of fireworks, the festivities promise an enchanting experience.

 

 

Join the celebration at Nathan Phillips Square from November 25 to January 7, with the Christmas tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. on the opening night. Be sure to check out the DJ Skate Party on December 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Nathan Phillips Square Rink, featuring Canadian-Tamil artist Lady Pista. Admission is free, making this a must-attend event to kick off the holiday season in Toronto.
