La Belle Tonki: A Culinary Symphony of Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Montreal Flavors

In the heart of Montreal, La Belle Tonki stands as a testament to the vibrant fusion of Vietnamese and Cambodian culinary traditions, spiced with a touch of Montreal’s cultural flair. Founded by Michel Nguyen and Michel “Boombeast,” this restaurant has become a gastronomic gem that defies expectations.

Originally a takeover meant to breathe new life into Nguyen’s mother’s renowned La Belle Tonkinoise, the venture exceeded all anticipations. The dynamic duo decided to keep the establishment, rebranding it as La Belle Tonki in 2020, with a new location on Beaubien East.

What sets La Belle Tonki apart is its eclectic menu, a harmonious blend of Vietnamese and Cambodian influences. From the award-winning kimcheesy poutine to the inventive Cheesy ramen and the enticing Burger bành mì, each dish is a fusion masterpiece. The Phở Flintstone, featuring a tonki with short rib, is a culinary adventure in itself.

Beyond the delectable offerings, La Belle Tonki embraces the ethos of hip-hop culture, evident in its aesthetic and the friendly, informal service. The restaurant exudes a unique energy, where every employee is part of a close-knit “family.” Notably, the owners prioritize their team’s well-being with a group insurance program and a commitment to a 40-hour workweek.
