Editors Notes: Two icons of American culture, Converse and Peanuts have combined to create a new sneaker collaboration.
Since its inception in 1950, there have been 17,897 strips of Peanuts published making it thought to be the longest story ever told and Converse is adding to it. The latest collection brings the comic’s iconic imagery to two of its signature sneaker models.
Charlie Brown (who coincidentally shares the nickname Chuck with Converse’s signature model) and the rest of the Peanuts gang have been chosen by the American footwear brand to bring their unwavering positivity to a selection of sneakers.
In particular, the collection focuses on Woodstock, a small yellow bird who was a sidekick for Snoopy. The character is printed repeatedly across the upper of its Chuck 70 sneaker in varying yellow hues to create a playful camo-print that covers the upper. The classic shoe is then finished off with more customization in the form of Peanuts branding on the tongue and a license plate-style tab on the heel of the midsole.
Joining the Chucks are another pair of Converse’s signature shoes, the One Star. This one takes a more muted approach, coming in a black colorway with a gum sole unit. On the sides of the shoes, both Snoopy and Woodstock can be found sheltering from the rain under the shoes’ star motif.
Both sneakers come in a custom box with the iconic comic strip printed across it, featuring Charlie Brown being called by his nickname “Chuck” .
